“MODERN-DAY LIBERALISM:

Exploring the Psychological Foundations of the Disorder”

A Brief Synopsis:

Did you know…?

● It is Emotion that drives all behaviors and actions of each and every individual!

● The Emotions that drive each individual’s every behavior and action originate from an inborn instinctual foundation of only FIVE primary Emotions!

● When an individual is subject to emotional repressions or a person has learned faulty beliefs about the emotions and as a result thereof exhibits incongruent behavior which now originates from a foundation of distorted emotional attitudes—then, the results of one’s behaviors and actions may prove to be off-target of the expected or desired outcome, and further, prove to be disastrous to both oneself and others!

● By and large—in varying degrees—all humanity may be out of sync regarding natural rhythmic emotional behavior and expression!

● Emotional repressions and disharmonies form the behavioral foundation of the Modern-Day Liberal!

Considering that all behavior and activity, without exception,of every single person inclusive of: the President of the United States, elected politicians of every governmental level including the local, state, and national; the corporate CEOs, managers, the working professionals and laypersons, ministers, the mental health worker and psychologist, white collar worker, blue collar worker, homemaker, student, and citizen—all!— are driven by emotion!  

Many mistakenly assume and believe that thinking drives behavior, but this is not so. Thinking is the functional component of every individual that formulates one’s plans towards goal achievement—ideally speaking—well thought-out plans based upon a gathering and ordering of information, facts, and data; and these in turn subjected to logic, reason, and common sense. But then, in proper sequential movement towards goal achievement, emotion is engaged to drive that plan (via behavior and action) to fruition.

Problems arise when one’s emotions are subjected to repressions, suppressions, distortions, and are otherwise ill-perceived and misunderstood. Problems are compounded when these emotions drive various warped and distorted ideologies or plans of action. The results of these various emotional displays, whether these emotions are manifesting singly or in concert with other emotions, are the cause and foundation of distorted energized emotional discharges (emotions by nature consist of an energy system of a more volatile quick-acting composition compared with that of thinking). These emotional displays (eruptions) will then automatically and autonomously intrude upon and disrupt or supplant thinking and constructive goal planning with a consequent disruption of outcome of activity; all proving to derail goals and often bringing disastrous results.

This, in essence, forms the crux of the problem with liberals and Liberalism. In effect, the liberal erringly, and both consciously and unconsciously substitutes emotion to do the work of the thinking function. This activity invariably produces wrong results, creates perceptual errors in addressing the task at hand, and is inherently contrary to and counter-productive to natural behavior and may be described as behavior unbecoming of the human species!

Surely, many of our citizenry are aware of the fact that within the arena of politics, government, our society, and culturally; a conflict is waging between the liberal left and the conservative right. Characterizing this perpetual and seemingly escalating conflict in a general way; liberals are deemed to be directed by emotion; conservatives are deemed to be directed by thinking. In a manner, liberals operate out of a base of emotion or subjectivity, and conservatives operate out of a base of thinking or objectivity. Establishing the fact that the emotional component is not designed for thinking; therefore, we may generally conclude that conservatives have their emotions better aligned to achieve a state of harmony and rhythm, thereby leading to right choices, balanced plans of action, and the fulfillment of sought-for outcomes; and contrariwise, the liberal’s emotional house is in a general state of disorder which can only result in conflict, subterfuge, and errant outcomes.

I.  An examination of some of the characteristics of liberalism:

1.  Liberals often use the word ‘feel’ or ‘feeling’ in their conversation and dialog even though it would be more appropriate in many given circumstances for them to say, “I think”.

2.  The ideologies of the liberal are more likely to rest upon a foundation of ‘belief’ or emotion rather than upon a foundation of ‘knowledge’ or thought. Hence, their reality tends to be based upon hopes, beliefs, faith, chimerical wish-fantasies, and dreamful intent.

3.  Intentions are of great importance to the liberal and are primarily supported by belief and ‘feeling’. So too does belief and ‘feeling’ support all the various forms of radical fanaticism that we witness manifesting in our culture and around the world. Scantily worded slogans and catch-phrases which capsulize intentions are popular among the liberals. Hence, observe the mindless vacuous repetitive chants, and placards carried by the liberal. This mindset of intention is considered by the liberal as due greater consideration than actual outcomes, as errant outcomes of their intent may conveniently be blamed on outside circumstances, blamed upon other people, or upon attendant circumstances as the cause of their un-fulfillment.

4.  Because ‘beliefs’ are more easily assimilate-able and more readily internalized by the liberal masses especially within the framework of the ‘collective’, and by those composing the general populace due to them possessing limited knowledge and self-knowledge; and furthermore; scant work, effort, or introspection is required of one to internalize and wholly accept a belief; Liberals, therefore, become easy prey to the promises of ‘big government’, authoritarianism, and the mentality of collectivism; and consequently the liberal feels quite at home—safe and secure—in such an (belief based) environment of promises and good intentions.

5.  Because what the liberal ‘feels’ supersedes facts, and logic—then, laws, rules, and various regulations may become quite arbitrary and malleable. Moralities become temporal, subjective, and relative to the times, hence, the influence of and adherence to the vicissitudes of ‘political correctness’ (which is itself a ‘temporal relative [fake] morality’) which holds such control upon the masses. As an example of how the liberals distort reality—take the Constitution of the United States; though grounded upon God-given Universal Laws and time-honored and time-tested tenants, the liberal views it as a temporal ‘living evolving document’ and should be subject to the whims and ephemeral changes of our culture!

6.  It is in such a fertile environment of ‘belief’, ‘intent’, and ‘fanaticism’ that the seeds of fear may be sown and take root, and the most effective antidote to combat fear is knowledge which unfortunately in this environment is not only lacking, but of whatever quantity there is—is suppressed or even destroyed by those who hold power. Hence, it serves the purposes of authoritarians, despots, dictators, and burgeoning totalitarian states to keep the populace in a state of ignorance as this condition better allows for the instillation of fear to use as a tool to manipulate and control the masses. This very foundation supports ‘political correctness’. How is it that on a certain level of consciousness many people hate and loathe ‘political correctness’, but lack sufficient courage and motivation to combat it, and rather fear it out of threat of reprisal or reprimand. Could it be that these very same people are paralyzed with the fear of being labeled and identified as a xenophobe, racist, homophobe, or bigot—and therefore sheepishly cower and adhere to the myriad tenets of political correctness? Just as these accusations aimed at the populace induce in persons a sensation of guilt—it is a ‘fake’ and counterfeit guilt—equally as ‘fake’ and destructive as the fake morality imposed upon all by the liberal masses. Those with an undeveloped foundation of real ‘Conscience’ succumb to the fake guilt and are then rendered immobile to act. 

7.  The Liberal becomes concurrently both a pawn, as well as a proponent of big government and authoritarian top-down control of the masses—in support of an ever-increasing expansion of bureaucracies and laws to direct and control the people. Thus, the notion of ‘self-determination’ which is intimately related to one’s God-given ‘right of free choice’ which is an inherent component forming the foundation of true individual freedom, ceases to exist in an atmosphere of stifling authoritarianism, big government control and manipulation, political correctness, and the ubiquitous spread of ever-new laws and regulations governing behavior; hence, the predisposition and unimpeded movement towards ‘collectivism’ and ‘consensual’ homogenous behavior of the masses.

8.  Liberals are predisposed to look at conditions and circumstances outside of themselves to post the cause and blame of their own, and of what they perceive as the collective woes society currently experiences—and rather then, ascribing such blame to other people and general life circumstances which foster racism, xenophobia, and sexism; or towards family, societal, or historical circumstances.

Introspection is not one of their stronger suits so as to see themselves as the cause of failure of their own pursuits; therefore, they are predisposed to look outside themselves to post blame. Failing to see the real foundation of the various causes, that is, as resulting from their own internal aberrations and due entirely to psychological, emotional, developmental, and environmental circumstances in which they dwell and to a great extent assist in creating; it is from this misperceived environment which conceives for them a multitude of ‘psychological projections’ wherefrom is created this ubiquitous ‘entitlement’ mentality of the liberal and adds to the ever-growing long list of what they consider ‘human rights’ and ‘human equality’. Therefore, they demand restitution due them for their own unfulfilled wants and desires, and for the failures of what they perceive as those of the society and nation. Forbid the notion that any true benefits which accrue to them should come by their own labors.

9.  Because the liberal’s activities and drives originate predominantly out of their emotional function, it is generally fruitless to argue and debate rationally with the liberal, as it is virtually impossible to refute the subjectivity of what the liberal ‘feels’, given that the foundation of their stance is generally void of facts, logic, reason, or common sense.

II. The Five Primary Human Emotions become fully operational as early as in the first six months of infancy, and even at that young age begin to mold and direct the behavior of the infant and child. Whereas the function of thinking—along with the attendant learning attributes and the capacity to process facts, data, information—all contributing to the formation of reason, logic, and common sense, only then begins rudimentary formation of notable sophistication until six or seven years of age.

The emotional component—inborn and grounded in the biologic and instinctual foundation of every individual as a member of Homo Sapiens; and furthermore, established in conformance with natural laws of functioning and behavior—is consistently established within everyone irrespective of race, culture, gender, or religious belief.

Therefore, as a commonly shared component of Homo sapiens—this is one foundation upon which it may be concluded with the utmost of certainty that, “All Men (Homo sapiens) are created equal.” All without exception are subject to the lawful governing consequential principles of the emotional component.

III. The Five Primary Emotions are listed in the following:                                                                           

1. Fear—designed primarily for our self-preservation, and in the most basic manner, assists us in our very survival. We are born with only two natural fears—all fears other than these two that one may have and experience in life—are learned by the individual as a result of their many and various life experiences.

2.  Anger—is a part of our instinctual survival mechanism and serves us in the augmentation of goal achievement and helps in establishing autonomy of individual behavior; enabling and assisting us to take on all the various challenges and obstacles in life and meet head-on any and all aggressions directed against us.

3.  Grief—the emotion experienced due to loss.

4.  Jealousy—the emotion that motivates, drives, and inspires us onward to reach a goal and achieve a task. For a clearer understanding of this emotion (and avoiding misdirection by the cultural meaning of the word jealousy, that is, often associated with envy [resentment], ‘jealous lovers’, et cetera); older root origins of the word jealousy are derived from the word zeal. Therefore, an expanded and more precise meaning of the word jealousy as it pertains to this (often unidentified) human emotion may be better defined by; zeal or zealousness, fervor, enthusiasm, passion, diligence, eagerness, and desire (and in a very strategic manner, this emotion provides the underpinning and the drive towards one’s experience of [religious] faith and belief).

5.  Love—considered the ‘highest’ of the human emotions. Love differs from the other emotions in the respect that there may be a boundless and endless outpouring of emotion whereas with the other emotions—the expression thereof is of limited quantity, that is, expressed in proportion to the given triggering circumstance. For ages the greatest philosophers, sages, prophets, and poets have attempted to define love but the task remains elusive.

IV. All of the five primary emotions were designed by our Creator to assist us in a positive manner. Not one of them is inherently a ‘negative’ emotion—they are all positive. Only when the emotions become repressed and distorted resulting in aberrant unnatural behavior do the emotion(s) become associated with negativity. Rather, negativity as such, is to be associated with and originates from the grouping of what is termed a person’s basic attitudes (it should be noted that all basic attitudes do not necessarily serve us in a negative manner producing seemingly negative outcomes). A person’s basic attitudes become near indelibly fixed or ‘hard-wired’ in those early-year life experiences—ages one through seven—and all basic attitudes have an emotional component supporting and directing them, and more precisely it is from distorted and aberrant conditioning and beliefs associated with the emotions which underlie certain (negative) basic attitudes. These form the basis of negative behavior of the individual. That is what is described as negativity.

Conclusion:

The creation of the structure and underpinning of the notions of self-determination, human equality, and freedom of experience of happiness which are part and parcel to idealized notions of real human freedom, rests upon the presumption that Man (Homo Sapiens) by universal law and privilege has the right of free choice. What happens to this right of free choice, when individual emotional disharmonies are coupled with factors prevalent in a strict authoritarian dictatorial collectivist nation-state? This freedom (right) of choice almost—if not entirely—ceases to exist. And what then can be said about outcomes when the actions manifesting via distortions in the emotional component are driving the behaviors of all the people in this collection of cultures and nations? Entire nations and cultures will plunge into a state of degradation and negativity!

Considering how emotion drives the behaviors and actions of every individual, and often (seemingly but even in all actuality) appear to manifest unconsciously and in ways that are outside and beyond the control of the individual—the very notion of what constitutes real human freedom(and choice) is challenged and subject to scrutiny. It is one thing for the individual to be manipulated and controlled by outside agencies and forces such as what we find in authoritarian dictatorial nation states, or by the ubiquitous spread of ever-increasing laws, rules, regulations, and political correctness which usurp control of the individual and the masses—but just as limiting to the freedom and autonomy of the individual is the control exerted by one’s own internal (psychological) sets of factors—that is—automatically and unconsciously manifesting emotional factors! Of these two factors which act upon the individual, that is—the internal or the external—which of the two would an individual be more likely to have success in changing and altering should they by a stroke of Fortuitous Grace awaken to a desire for true individual freedom? Do you think it may be necessary and expedient that one first get their own emotional house in order? — and then, one may be better equipped with a foundation of knowledge and wisdom to set about to directly identify, challenge, and then alter the conditions of despotism, authoritarianism, and collectivism that is happening all around them?

What then characterizes and defines true (individual) human freedom? One of the most profound and greatest attributes of true freedom rests upon the condition that every individual be free of emotional aberrations, dysfunctions, and repressions. Furthermore, when an individual’s emotions are working in complete rhythm and harmony, then the individual will be equipped to fully assert themselves against oppressive governments, dictatorial authoritarian leadership, and collectivist nation-states! And in the grandest manner of all—it is only when an individual has their emotions working in rhythm and harmony that they may truly realize their full ability to open to the emotion of Unconditional Love! In this is found the essence and the very key component to one completing their Ultimate Spiritual Destiny!
